Underwriter, Analyst

About Us We are a growing alternative investment firm focused on distressed debt and special situations in commercial real estate. We acquire non-performing loans and distressed CRE assets, applying rigorous underwriting and creative problem-solving to generate risk-adjusted returns.

The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Underwriter/Analyst to own the quantitative and qualitative underwriting process for NPL acquisitions and distressed CRE investments. You will be the analytical engine of the investment process — building models, stress-testing assumptions, and producing investment committee materials that drive capital allocation decisions.

Responsibilities

1. Underwrite NPL’s and loan acquisitions, including collateral valuation, borrower analysis, and recovery scenario modeling
2. Build and maintain detailed Excel models covering cash flows, hold/sell analyses, note-on-note financing, and realization strategies (REO, discounted payoff, note sale, foreclosure)
3. Conduct market research on collateral assets — review BPOs/appraisals, comp sets, rent rolls, and operating statements
4. Perform due diligence review of loan files, title, environmental reports, and legal documents
5. Prepare investment committee memos with clear, well-supported investment theses and risk summaries
6. Support asset management of existing portfolio positions — track performance, flag risks, and model exit scenarios
7. Maintain deal pipeline database and investment tracking reports

Qualifications

1. 2–5 years of experience in CRE underwriting, credit analysis, special servicing, or distressed debt — either on the lending or investment side
2. Strong Excel modeling skills
3. Working knowledge of CRE property fundamentals across asset classes
4. Familiarity with loan document review and basic real estate legal concepts (lien priority, foreclosure process, UCC)
5. Highly organized, strong attention to detail, and able to manage multiple deals simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
