Get to Know the Opportunity

In this role, you will partner with the Regional Manager in executing on a marketing plan to find and cultivate the sources of core and core-plus loans, to include the initial underwriting, credit analysis, and investment committee presentations of new investment opportunities.

The Contributions You Will Make

Mortgage Loan Origination Responsibilities

  1. Solicit mortgage loans through correspondent mortgage bankers in defined geographic territory.
  2. Member of a team that directly solicits mortgage loans from large national accounts.
  3. Review and underwrite proposed mortgage loans.
  4. Negotiate and structure mortgage loan investments.
  5. Underwrite, value, and inspect the security.
  6. Prepare detailed analysis and presentation of mortgage loan investments to the investment committee.
  7. Negotiate and issue mortgage loan commitments.
  8. Coordinate, with legal counsel, the closing of mortgage loan transactions.
  9. Review and approve environmental, engineering and appraisal reports.

General Responsibilities

  1. Produce the required volume of quality mortgage loan transactions at required yields.
  2. Research new territories where required and continually review existing territories in search of quality mortgage loan transactions.
  3. Contribute value added knowledge of local real estate markets within territory.
  4. Build and maintain correspondent relationships.
  5. Maintain general knowledge of factors affecting the real estate market and economy.
  6. Provide leadership in areas of program and subordinate development.

Minimum Knowledge and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred.
  2. Minimum of 10 years’ work experience in commercial real estate is required.
  3. Ability to evaluate real estate and real estate markets.
  4. Detailed knowledge of mortgage loan documentation, analysis, and legal issues.
  5. Knowledge of alternative investments and relative value.
  6. Management and leadership skills are necessary to implement directives and obtain established goals.
  7. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.

Additional Information

Frequent travel to assigned territory to inspect assets, build and strengthen correspondent relationships and develop knowledge of the local markets within the territory.
