Position Full-Time, Salaried, Performance-Based Bonus
As Conventus’ Senior CRE Underwriter, you will be the at the heart of our company’s product expansion. We are searching for a mission-driven, analytical, detail-oriented, and highly technical person to develop and lead our newly formed CRE underwriting team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be a key member of our team that is critical to ensuring the thoroughness of our CRE loan origination process and delivering to our clients during a pivotal stage of our company’s development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understand business goals to mitigate risk in CRE lending related to acquisition, refinance, and value-add properties
- Construct detailed financial models to project pro forma gross income, net operating income, and cash flows for commercial real estate properties (multifamily, office, hotel, industrial, and retail) with core, core plus, and value-add characteristics
- Lead and update underwriting guideline creation and collaborate with key stakeholders to implement guidelines into loan processing and loan sale processes
- Recommend loan amount, rate, and required enhancements (guarantees, additional collateral, etc.) based upon initial and updated property valuations
- Conduct market and submarket research including demographic, income, and comparable property performance and sale trends in order to improve property valuation analysis
- Perform due diligence and closing process reviews by analyzing financial statements, appraisal and environmental reports, lease agreements, tax returns, and legal documents
- Approve pay-downs related to property or collateral release provisions
- Develop, refine and establish analytical standards for underwriting policies
- Oversee and manage underwriting compliance procedures
- Identify, implement, and standardize risk management strategies
- Collaborate and provide support across sales, processing, and asset management divisions
Skills
- Ability to multitask, balance multiple priorities, and maintain strong attention to detail
- Financial analysis and modeling
- Proficiency or working knowledge of Argus (or Assess) and CoStar
- Fundamental expertise in financing, collateral and valuation concepts, and loan documentation

Education and Experience
