Berkadia has a newly founded office in Milwaukee and we are looking for individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit that are looking to assist in growing this current team from two people to thirteen over the next three years.   Want to do the best work of your life, build a new team from the ground up, be respected for your thoughts, AND get paid competitively?  Join our team of insanely smart and passionate people.   The Mortgage Banker will be responsible for originating mortgage loans using a variety of mortgage products, building and fostering relationships with current borrowers, and continuously prospecting for new borrowers. The Mortgage Banker is the financial intermediary between Berkadia’s borrower clients, the Company’s internal capital sources, and third party capital sources that the Company represents while fostering reliable and effective communications to enhance the likelihood that the parties will reach agreement on financing terms.  

  • Responsible for the continued growth and expansion of Berkadia’s Mortgage Banking practice within the Wisconsin, Minnesota, and the Greater Mid-West territory as well as Nationally through the aggressive origination, structuring and closing of financial transactions for the firm;
  • Develop and manage an organizational approach that leverages the relationships and best practices of Berkadia, enabling the business to be more competitive, profitable and to secure significant market share in the area;
  • Prepare loan submission packages that meet the requirements of Berkadia’s internal and third-party capital sources;
  • Make recommendations on the credit risk of the transaction when appropriate;
  • Keep current as to market and industry trends to provide reliable market intelligence or “local color” about the markets in which Berkadia and its clients may do business;
  • Participate and play a prominent role in appropriate industry conferences as a visible ambassador of Berkadia in the region;
  • Identify and develop new client relationships, consistently broadening the firms reach to a continually expanding client base.
  • Establish a significant presence in the local area and make material inroads to building market share in the region;
  • Meet or exceed operating and financial performance goals to be mutually established at commencement of employment;
  • Develop and implement a business plan to secure additional business through a compelling new business strategy, including leveraging Berkadia’s multiple service lines, relationships and best practices nationwide.
  PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS The Mortgage Banker will be a strong leader who possesses keen financial acumen, “deal making” and business building skills.  This individual will possess strong relationships within the local marketplace and possess the energy and drive to grow and expand Berkadia’s presence in a new market.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Mortgage Banking with the proven ability to handle large, complex and/or specialty loans and maintain a strong client portfolio;
  • The ability to analyze market trends, financial information, credit circumstances and risks to originate commercial financing opportunities that will perform and deliver positive returns;
  • Thorough knowledge and a strong network of regional borrowers and intermediaries;
  • Significant presence and recognition as a business leader within the local market;
  • Ability to build an office as well as lead and manage a team of professionals incented by a production driven compensation model;
  • Unquestioned integrity and an untarnished reputation;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
