Position Overview:

Medalist Capital is seeking an experienced real estate finance professional to arrange equity and structured finance solutions for commercial properties across all product types.  Responsibilities include procuring new business on the sponsorship side, as well as negotiating and structuring equity investments in real estate construction and acquisition deals.   The ideal candidate will have a commercial real estate network and/or a demonstrable aptitude in generating new client relationships.  The candidate will also need to work collaboratively with Medalist’s debt producers and existing client base.

Medalist Capital arranges commercial real estate financing from its offices in Charlotte, Raleigh, Charleston (SC) and Atlanta for projects located predominately in the Southeast, but throughout North America.

• Medalist Capital is a correspondent lender for 27 of the nation’s most active and competitive institutional real estate lenders. Since inception Medalist Capital has arranged deals with over 100 debt capital sources
• Projects range in size from $1 million to well over $100 million

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or a relevant discipline.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in real estate; or an appropriate combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years’ experience in commercial real estate deal structuring (with access to both debt and equity capital markets platforms).
• Proven fee revenue generation and the ability to hit the ground running based on prior real estate sponsor and capital market relationships.
• Ability to analyze, negotiate and structure equity and structured finance transactions for commercial real estate.
• Strong business development, communication and negotiation skills.
• Self- motivated, team oriented and strong time management skills
• Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and One Note

Preferred Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Real Estate or MBA beneficial
• Broad knowledge of capital markets, credit and financing alternatives in a commercial or investment banking environment.
• Excellent business development, negotiation, presentation, marketing, sales and closing skills.
• Strong solutions-based problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated decision making skills, and proven ability in influencing and working effectively with experience real estate professionals, senior officers and executives.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of Medalist staff.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build successful relationships and communicate effectively with all levels the real estate profession.
• Experience raising capital from equity sources, including institutional investors, public and corporate pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations, insurance companies, asset managers, family offices and high net worth individuals.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Medalist’s senior debt producers to drive business execution on debt placements.
