The practice-based program is at work in the resurgent City of Buffalo, a vibrant laboratory for applied study in proximity to global financial and employment centers in New York, Boston and Toronto.
With an outstanding educational return-on-investment, the program offers the only specialized masters real estate degree in the SUNY system, and is the only comprehensive graduate real estate program in a state university in the Northeast US.
Core Focus
Master of Science in Real Estate Development (MSRED)
Program Highlights
The program requires completion of 48 credit hours. Full-time students can complete the program in three semesters, with room for a summer internship between the second and third semesters. Flexible part-time study is also available.
The curriculum has a core of 36 credit hours, with courses in finance and investments, financial modeling, market analysis, construction management, building technologies, structuring deals and transactions, and architectural design. Students take 12 credit hours of electives, for exploration and development of specialized expertise in areas such as sustainability, historic preservation, inclusive design and entrepreneurship.
Learning done in core and elective courses is synthesized in an intensive, final semester capstone course, in which multidisciplinary student teams work on a complex, semester-long project involving a real site, for a real client, in real time.
The faculty includes real estate executives and entrepreneurs, and the program is supported by a diverse group of real estate leaders, who serve as advisors, mentors, and career advocates to the program and its students.
