Job Description
Pensam is a Miami based private real estate investment firm that specializes in direct lending and investing in multi-family, and opportunistically other, commercial real estate assets. On the debt side we are a direct, balance sheet lender that provides commercial loans including whole-loans and bridge loans ranging from $20mm to $90mm as well as mezzanine loans and preferred equity financing ranging from $3mm to $25mm. On the equity side we own / operate / control nearly 16,000 multifamily apartment units across 11 states.
We are looking for a seasoned business development / commercial lending professional to help continue growing our expanding business. This position has responsibility for all aspects of deal and debt origination and will work closely with senior members of the firm and investment teams. The successful candidate will originate and assist in structuring and closing commercial real estate opportunities focused on the multifamily sector including senior and subordinate debt transactions as well as equity investment transactions. Specifically, the candidate will have a well-documented track record of independently identifying deals and building close relationships with sponsors / borrowers, intermediaries and other CRE professionals. The candidate should also be familiar with complex loan structures such as mezzanine and preferred equity deals. This person will undertake a range of client facing responsibilities, including marketing and regular client communications
Job Description:
- Independently source new business / lending opportunities in the CRE sector
- Build strong contacts, relationships and standing across the CRE community
- Promote the company’s image and brand by representing Pensam at industry conferences, on speaking panels and at forums
- Conduct initial valuation of real estate transactions and review with senior team members
- Efficiently monitor the deal origination process
- Monitor and update customer relationship management database
Qualifications:
- Track record of successfully originating real estate transactions including: bridge loans, mezzanine, structured finance, preferred equity positions and acquisition opportunities
- Familiarity with operating company investments, joint venture, mezzanine financing, entity level investing, and financial engineering
- Value-add lending experience
- Excellent negotiation and business development skills
- Strong deal management skills and exposure to large and complex deal processes across geographies
- Entrepreneurial and open mindset
- Team player, sound investment judgment, and highly motivated
Education and Experience Required:
- An existing book of business and/or relationships with sponsors / borrowers and brokers
- Adequate experience in real estate banking with sound knowledge of real estate valuation and credit analysis
- Strong sales and business development background
