DESCRIPTION OF COMPANY:
Geolo Capital is the direct investment arm of the John A. Pritzker family office, continuing a four-generation unmatched record of creating, investing in and building a diversified portfolio of consumer-focused companies. Since inception in 2005, Geolo has built a portfolio of world class operating companies and award-winning real estate investments including Two Roads Hospitality, The Bay Club Company, Carmel Valley Ranch and Ventana Big Sur.
Geolo has invested in and helped to grow a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of premier projects, including ground-up mixed-use developments, complex adaptive-reuse projects and historical restorations within the urban, boutique, resort, multi-family residential and traditional hospitality space.
Recently delivered Geolo projects include: the design-award winning $100 million-dollar Thompson Hotel in Washington D.C. and the recently opened $300 million-dollar mixed use Thomson / tommie hotel and Sienna apartment building in Austin, Texas. In 2021, Geolo closed on investment commitments of approximately $190 million, which included 3,500+ multifamily units with the long-term goal of achieving 10,000 multifamily units.
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Vice President will be a member of the Asset Management team and will play an important role in value enhancement objectives across Geolo’s hospitality investments (equity and credit) and Geolo’s growing portfolio of multifamily units. In addition, the Vice President will provide key support with new transactions. Core responsibilities include the creation and maintenance of a portfolio-level reporting system to facilitate real-time decision making across Geolo’s hospitality and multifamily business lines.
More specifically, responsibilities include:
- Creating and maintaining a portfolio-level dashboard which provides real-time qualitative and financial metrics across Geolo’s portfolio of hospitality and multifamily investments
- Preparing and presenting recommendations for value enhancement opportunities across the portfolio
- Preparing hold / sell and refinancing analyses and monitoring comparative industry data
- Overseeing lender covenants and reporting obligations; making recommendations to optimize capital structures
- Developing and maintaining relationships with joint venture partners, lenders, consultants, brokers and third-party management companies (both hospitality and multifamily)
- Serve as a critical reviewer and key provider of data and inputs used by the finance function in the fund’s strategic plan
- Review the transaction teams underwriting assumptions to validate the data used for determining investment decisions
PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The desired candidate will have a BA/BS degree focused on business, real estate or hospitality management with 6+ years of full-time professional experience focused on the principal or lending side of hospitality real estate investing. Multifamily transactions and/or asset management experience is an added plus. The successful candidate will have strong business acumen, be highly analytical and have excellent communication skills. Experience analyzing market data, hotel and multifamily financial statements and real estate valuation is preferred. Advanced knowledge of financial modeling techniques in Excel and preparing presentations in PowerPoint is essential.
As an integral member of the company’s team, the candidate must exemplify and demonstrate the highest standards of honesty, humility, integrity and discretion. The individual should be considered a detail-oriented person who can tackle complex assignments while collaborating with other Geolo team members. The candidate should be highly numerate and have excellent
written communication skills. S/he will need to be a consummate team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills up and down the organizational chart.
The Vice President will be based in Geolo’s San Francisco headquarters where Geolo operates an in-office working environment – this is not a remote position. Frequent business travel is required to visit Geolo’s portfolio investments and companies.
COMPENSATION:
Base salary and incentives will be commensurate with experience.
