Overview

 

At Argentic, a B-piece Investments Analyst/Associate will gain exposure to all aspects of the CMBS B-piece investment and diligence process in addition to managing the existing portfolio. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with all team members, manage multiple projects, possess strong quantitative, analytical and communication skills, and be a team player who displays initiative and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

 

The candidate will work closely with internal teams (up to and including the Argentic management team) as well as external deal parties (including loan originators from other bank and non-bank lenders as well as commercial real estate brokers, master servicers and special servicers, etc.) when analyzing both new and existing CMBS B-piece investments.

 

  • Assist in the diligence and underwriting of loans within a collateral pool of a prospective B-piece investment. Tasks include reviewing asset summary reports, market data, cash flow statements and various diligence files from loan sellers in order to evaluate the loan from a credit perspective.
  • Coordinate with various deal parties to answer diligence and loan structure-related questions.
  • Ability to understand property operating statements and cash flow statements, along with the ability to perform detailed cash flow analysis.
  • Assist in the active management of the existing Argentic B-piece portfolio. Work internally, and with both master servicer and special servicer contacts on various loan and property level decisions including major tenant lease amendments, disbursement of reserved funds, loan modifications, workout strategies, foreclosures, etc.
  • Conduct detailed economic and market research and prepare various presentations for management.
  • Ability to manage and analyze large data sets and identify key takeaways.

Qualifications

 

Qualifications include:

 

  • 1-4 years minimum experience in Commercial Real Estate Finance (CMBS experience preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Mathematics or other related field is preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills together with a proficiency in Word and Power Point is required; knowledge of Argus a plus
  • Ability to analyze financial statements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail; and ability to multi-task
  • Highly motivated, independent worker within a team-oriented culture. Ability to work closely with others as well as independently to produce accurate, detailed work
