Company Overview:

Our client is seeking a professional for the Assistant Controller position in which they will assist with the day-to-day back-office operations, accounting, and reporting. The Assistant Controller will report directly to the Firm’s Chief Financial Officer. Our client is a privately held real estate investment and development company based in Dallas, TX. The principals have over 40 years of combined real estate and capital markets experience including the development of over 10,000 residential lots and over $1 billion in direct real estate acquisitions. The firm owns or controls approximately 12,000 acres across north Texas today.  The company has 11 active development projects underway in DFW today.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize accounting software to manage property-level books & financial records
  • Delivery of property financial data to tax team for tax compliance
  • Execute quarterly debt compliance: track and monitor loan requirements, submit property level draws to banks for funding
  • Set up bank wires and transfers for acquisitions, divestures, and equity fundings
  • Assist with investor quarterly and annual reporting, sending capital calls and distributions, and fulfilling investor requests
  • Assist with the preparation of investor presentations & materials
  • Aid in the monitoring and enforcement of various compliance issues

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience and 1-4 years at a public accounting firm
  • CPA preferred
  • Private Equity/Real Estate/Financial Services experience preferred
  • Team Player
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact successfully with individuals from various functional areas and levels of the company, as well as with external parties
  • Ability to think independently and provide sound, practical solutions to problems
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (technology oriented in general)
  • Skilled at project management, multi-tasking, and working in a fast-paced team environment
  • Positive attitude and willingness to tackle any assigned task
  • Strong work ethic and a diligent, responsible personality
