Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as an Assistant Counsel.

This important role will be responsible for documenting and closing Virginia Housing's rental housing (multi-family) mortgage loans, loan servicing issues and general corporate legal work. Our ideal candidate is a results-oriented lawyer with expertise in multifaceted commercial transactions, managing legal risks, and in negotiating complex agreements and financial instruments. You will have a strong interest in leading change to meet organizational goals and the ability to apply legal concepts to meet business objectives and develop practical solutions. Qualified candidates must possess:

  • J. D. degree from a law school accredited by the American Association of Law Schools and an active membership in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.
  • At least two years of experience working as in-house counsel or attorney with demonstrated ability to effectively and proactively provide sound legal advice, exercise good business judgment, work with senior management and implement policies and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Experience in developing, directing and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as Adobe products.
  • Able to perform internet-based research.

Preferred experience includes prior in-house or law firm experience in drafting multi-family loan closing documents and conducting multi-family loan closings. Experience in commercial real estate transactions.

 

This position will remain open until filled.

 

Hiring Range: $103,705 - $134,813

Hybrid work model

This position reports to our Innsbrook location in Glen Allen, Virginia.

A background check will be performed as a condition of employment.
