About the role
As a Data Engineer at CBRE, you have an extraordinary opportunity to shape the future of the real estate industry. You will be an integral part of our Data & Technology team, responsible for developing and managing the data infrastructure that supports CBRE's data-driven mission. We are currently migrating data from source system like Lenel, iOffice, Jira, Workday towards a Google BigQuery Data-warehouse. This transition will directly impact our ability to develop groundbreaking innovative solutions, enabling our service line leaders to better serve our clients with data-backed recommendations.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with the D & T manager and team to develop data models, ensuring it meets the business requirements, is compatible with data sources and aligns with CBRE's data architecture and compliance guidelines.
- Create robust data ingestion pipelines using Apache Airflow and Python to transfer data to Google BigQuery, applying standard methodologies for technical data modeling, security, compliance, coding, documentation, and overall data quality.
- Maintain and optimize the existing Google BigQuery Datamart and prioritize data migration to Google BigQuery in collaboration with the data manager.
- Develop SQL-based tables within the reporting layer of the database, enabling efficient data retrieval for analytics and reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with Data Analyst to design and implement effective data models for various products and services.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Data Science, Business Analytics or equivalent.
- 3+ years of working experience in equivalent field.
- Experience building data pipelines using Apache Airflow.
- Experience with Google Cloud Big Query or similar cloud-based enterprise Data warehouse technologies.
- Demonstrable experience in Python and SQL, showcasing proficiency in data manipulation and analysis.
- Knowledge of data modeling and data management practices, with a good grasp of relational database concepts. Experience with dimension modeling is highly valued.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for data accuracy and integrity.
- Good interpersonal skills and collaboration abilities, capable of working effectively within a team and across various business units.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a new way and drive to stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering and modeling.
- Experience in designing and implementing and ETL processes.
- Lead efforts to establish and maintain methodologies for database management, including table structures, relationships, coding standards, and query optimization.
- Identify and explore new data sources requested by the business, evaluating their connection to the existing data model.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to data source, ETL processes and entire data environment.
- Contribute to data governance efforts, including the implementation of data governance solutions.

California & Washington Resident: CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Data Engineer position is $130,000 annually with bonus eligibility and the maximum salary for the Data Engineer position is $140,000 annually with bonus eligibility. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program.
