WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: 
The Accounting Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and managing the tax compliance and accounting functions within our organization. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who is adept at collaborating with external CPA firms, managing tax-related communications, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate also has a strong understanding of financial projections, capital projects, and investor distributions.
 
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
 
Tax Coordination and Compliance:
·         Review and coordinate the delivery of tax returns prepared by external CPA firm, including payments and quarterly estimated tax payments.
·         Respond to notifications from tax agencies.
·         Develop and recommend internal policies and procedures for income tax compliance, including documentation, filings, and estimated payments . 
·         Review tax implications related to capital projects, redevelopment, refinancing, and other significant ventures.
·         Work with the Accounting team and external CPA firm to prepare and review schedules for year-end tax return preparation.
·         Review capitalizes vs. expense accounting treatment proposed by external CPA firm for repair and maintenance expenses.
·         Review cost segregation reports and other tax information from external CPA firm.
Tax Documentation and Reporting:
·         Complete and file annual Form 720 Quarterly Federal Excise Tax Return and manage excise tax payments.
·         File W-9 forms and EIN requests as required.
·         Prepare taxable fringe benefits information for annual W-2 reporting.
Fixed Asset and Miscellaneous Tax Management:
·         Maintain the fixed asset schedule, ensuring proper classification, disposals, and transfers. Coordinate with external CPA firm for additional guidance on depreciation.
·         Prepare personal property tax returns and monitor subsequent taxes assessed by multiple jurisdictions for personal property.  
Other Filings/Reporting:
·         Prepare political contribution reports. 
·         Coordinate with HR on 401(k) contributions, annual audits, and Form 5500.
·         Complete Census reporting.
Investor and Distribution Procedures:
·         Assist with investor quarterly distributions and special distributions as required.
·         Review external CPA firm recommendations for non-resident taxes withheld.
·         Correspond with investors  regarding non-resident tax obligations.
·         Reconcile A/R Partners accounts to general ledger on a quarterly basis.
Family Office Support:
·         Assist the Family Office with workpaper and tax return reviews, input of accounting transactions, and other related tasks.
·         Stay abreast of industry trends.
·         Perform other duties as assigned by CFO or CEO. 

JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: 
·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
·         Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
·         High level of integrity and confidentiality.
·         Proven experience working with independent CPA firms and managing tax-related communications.
·         In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance requirements.
·         Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
·         Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
·         Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
·         Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
·         Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
·         Minimum of 7 years of experience in tax and accounting roles, with a strong focus on tax compliance and financial management.
