Job Description

Haven Capital is a real estate investment firm dedicated to originating new ground lease positions on high-quality assets throughout the US. Formed through a joint venture between Regis and affiliates of Ares Management, Haven provides an alternative source of long-term capital for property owners. Haven currently has $2.0bn of capital to deploy nationally.
We are currently seeking a Controller to join our team in New York, NY.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead the financial reporting and operations processes for Regis U.S. and Haven Capital. This role will have the opportunity to build the accounting and finance functions.
- Development, implementation and maintenance of the accounting practices, internal controls, and business processes.
- Assist in writing standard operating procedures, recommend and implement operational enhancements, and maintain compliance with operational policies and procedures.
- Hands-on oversight of accounting, reporting, performance analysis and compliance of investments, including private equity, real estate, and other holdings.
- Provide cash management support services including administration of bank accounts, management of cash flows, etc.
- Lead relationships with external auditors, accounting/tax advisors, and internal controls.
- Work with team on due diligence of investment opportunities and investment structure.
- Manage investor reporting and requests including capital calls, distributions, and reporting.
- Preparation of the monthly, quarterly and year end closings, including supporting schedules, financial review, variance analysis and the prompt resolution of issues.
- Preparation of financial statements in accordance with the GAAP.
- Perform special ad hoc projects and analysis on a frequent basis
Qualifications:
- 10+ years hands on experience within REIT, Private Equity Firms or Big Four accounting.
- Previous success in building and scaling the finance function preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA required.
- Strong knowledge of, and ability to apply, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Working knowledge of partnership and corporate taxation.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively.
- Advanced Microsoft Office Excel skills.
