Founded in 2010, Mile Rock Capital is a value-oriented real estate private equity firm. Since inception, Mile Rock has acquired assets totaling $2.0 billion in value with a diverse group of investors including institutions, endowments, family offices and high net worth individuals.
Mile Rock is currently investing out of its second discretionary real estate fund, which is a long-duration vehicle with a broad mandate to invest opportunistically in any property type and across the capital structure.
Duties & Responsibilities: Accounting & Reporting
• Coordinate third party corporate accounting including monthly close, internal reporting, cash flow analysis
• Review fund and property-level financial statements in collaboration with Asset Management
• Manage audits in conjunction with external advisors
• Approve lender and investor reports across monthly, quarterly and annual cycles
• Maintain cash flow forecasts and oversee daily treasury management
• Prepare and review ad hoc analyses for LPs, lenders and internal team members
• Facilitate wire and transfers to, from, and between the organization
• Maintain Financial Statements for Corporate entity
Tax, Compliance & Controls
• Direct tax strategy, compliance and filings across all legal entities in conjunction with tax practitioners
• Ensure internal controls are implemented and regularly tested
• Oversee compliance with loan covenants, insurance policies and regulations
• Support debt reporting and covenant tracking
• Liaise with lenders and internal teams on capital markets and audit matters
Fund Accounting
• Coordinate review of all Fund financial statements prepared by others
• Coordinate Fund Capital Calls/Distributions with third party administrator
• Coordinate Fund Quarterly and Annual reporting
• Ensure all quarterly REIT testing is completed
Team Management & Oversight
• Oversee third-party property managers and accounting partners
• Improve processes and establish scalable best practices to support scale, accuracy and timeliness
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
HR Related
• Compile payroll information for 3 payrolls per month using outside payroll service
• Coordinate updates to Employee Manual annually
• Manage annual Benefits renewal with outside broker
• On board new employees
• Process expense reporting
Insurance
• Manage third party Insurance certificate compliance through outside vendor
• Coordinate review of all insurance programs for assets owned by Funds and any required corporate insurance.
Qualifications: • 5+ years ideally combining public accounting and private equity real estate (CPA preferred)
• Proficient in GAAP, financial reporting and fund and REIT structures
• Basic understanding of tax related issues
• Experience managing multi-entity accounting across geographies
• Expertise in Excel, QuickBooks, and related real estate financial systems
• Experience with Real Estate Insurance related issues
• Experience with Human Resource tasks
• Clear communicator with the ability to convey complex topics to varied audiences
• Strong judgment and analytical problem-solving capabilities
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Able to work well independently and within a small team
