The Opportunity
Anchor Health Properties is seeking a Vice President of Underwriting to lead and support underwriting efforts across all investment verticals — including development, acquisitions, and structured finance. This role partners closely with our Business Development and Transactions teams to evaluate opportunities, structure deals, and ensure underwriting deliverables are thorough, accurate, and aligned with company standards.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Investments, the VP of Underwriting will manage a team of underwriters, overseeing workloads, establishing quality-control processes, and ensuring consistent, high-caliber outputs. This individual will lead underwriting analysis alongside the transactions team and collaborate closely with transaction leads who serve as subject matter experts. The ideal candidate brings both technical excellence and team leadership to drive analytical rigor, accuracy, and consistency across all investment activities.

How you’ll contribute
Team Leadership & Quality Control
  • Lead and delegate underwriting efforts on new opportunities in partnership with business development, ensuring analyses are completed in collaboration with transaction leads as subject matter experts.
  • Coordinate workloads across the underwriting team to ensure balance and timely delivery.
  • Establish and enforce quality control standards to maintain accuracy, consistency, and reliability of underwriting outputs.
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and development support to strengthen team capabilities, deepen understanding of the full scope of transaction considerations, and build the ability to manage assignments independently from start to finish.
  • Review and conduct quality control of underwriting analyses and Investment Committee materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with firm standards.
Direct Transaction Underwriting
  • Underwrite transactions across development, acquisitions, and structured finance, producing models, analyses, and Investment Committee materials.
  • Independently lead underwriting on select or more complex transactions, ensuring thorough analysis and high-quality outputs.
  • Ensure financial assumptions are well-supported and reflective of current market conditions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with transaction managers, legal, finance, and asset management teams to ensure underwriting aligns with execution requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to provide insights into pipeline management, capacity planning, and team performance.
  • Support ongoing improvements to underwriting processes, models, and reporting tools to ensure they remain accurate, efficient, and aligned with both capital partner requirements and the firm’s in-house legal standards and expectations.
What you bring
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting principles across development, acquisitions, or structured finance.
  • Demonstrated success underwriting complex real estate transactions, preferably in healthcare or commercial real estate.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communicator, capable of working effectively with internal stakeholders, external partners, and senior leadership.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance risk and opportunity.
  • Collaborative mindset with proven ability to foster teamwork and alignment across functions.
  • Natural curiosity and intellectual agility, with a drive to ask questions, uncover insights, and continuously improve processes.
  • Leadership presence with the ability to mentor and guide team members, while also earning credibility as a hands-on contributor.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and professional demeanor when interfacing with capital partners, legal teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of real estate underwriting experience, including responsibility for managing or coordinating team outputs.
  • Proven track record of underwriting complex transactions—preferably in healthcare or commercial real estate—and preparing high-quality Investment Committee materials.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills in Excel and/or Argus required.
