Job Description

Indiana, Ohio, or Kentucky Preferred  |  Open to Exceptional Remote Candidates  |  Full-Time  |  Reports to Founder & Managing Partner

Our Vision and Purpose

Vision: By 2035, 1,000 financially independent, million-dollar surgeons practicing by choice, impacting 25 million patient lives.

Purpose: We enhance the quality of life for surgeons, their patients, and their families, creating a positive ripple effect that strengthens the practice of medicine and the communities it serves.

With a 20-year track record, zero investor capital calls, and zero investor losses, Apta has scaled to 85+ physician investors. We are now accelerating growth and need a Director of Investor Relations to lead the conversion engine that turns qualified surgeon leads into committed, funded investors.

Our Values: T.I.M.E.

We give our investors freedom with their most valuable, limited resource.
  • Transparency: We communicate openly, honestly, and clearly, building trust within our team and with the surgeons and families we serve.
  • Integrity: We do what is right, even when it is difficult, and uphold the highest ethical standards in every decision.
  • Meticulousness: We operate with precision and discipline, taking pride in the details that protect capital, build confidence, and create long-term results.
  • Evolve: We embrace continuous learning and improvement, personally, professionally, and organizationally, so our clients and our firm remain resilient in a changing world.

The Role
The Director of Investor Experience owns the relationship after capital is funded. You own everything in between, from the first Discovery Call through the wired investment.

As Director of Investor Relations, you lead Apta's entire capital raising function. You are supported by the Investor Marketing Manager and, together with an offshore Marketing Coordinator, you operate a full-stack investor acquisition team. Your job is to take qualified Million-Dollar Surgeon leads from private dinners, webinars, digital funnels, and peer referrals and build the conviction that turns interest into commitment.

Our founder, Dr. Vasu Kakarlapudi, a practicing ENT surgeon himself, serves as a strategic trust accelerator on select calls and at key events. He deepens conviction but never asks for capital. You are the closer. You own the ask, the follow-through, and the funded outcome.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the Conversion Process
  • Lead Conversion: Conduct Discovery Calls as peer-level dialogue. Identify each surgeon's decision-making persona (Competitive, Methodical, Humanist, Spontaneous). Steel-man every objection with evidence. Move prospects from Interest to Soft Commit to Hard Commit to Funded.
  • Meet Surgeons Where They Are: These professionals are in the OR five days a week. A well-timed text after a long surgery day or a Saturday morning follow-up when they have headspace may be the move that converts. Creativity and adaptability are non-negotiable.
  • Own the Pipeline: Maintain real-time HubSpot accuracy with confidence tiers. Own the weighted Capital Certainty calculation that drives leadership decisions. Run weekly War Room meetings during active raises.
  • Convert at High-Trust Events: Attend intimate 8 to 10 surgeon private dinners across Indianapolis, Louisville, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Lexington. Engage webinar attendees with persona-matched follow-up. These are peer conversations, not pitch events.
  • Webinars and Educational Events: Participate in sessions that demonstrate Apta's expertise. Engage attendees who show buying signals. Follow up with precision: the right message, to the right persona, within the right timeframe.
  • Lead the IR Function: Set strategic direction for the Investor Marketing Manager. Enforce CRM discipline as a team standard. Build the repeatable playbook that scales capital raising beyond your individual capacity. Feed frontline intelligence back into the marketing engine.

What's In It For You
  • Mission-Driven Impact: Every investor you convert is another surgeon building financial freedom and thousands of patients who benefit.
  • Leadership Position: Own the capital raising function with a direct report and offshore support. Build the IR team as Apta scales from 85 to 1,000 investors.
  • Founder Access: Report directly to the Founder and Managing Partner. Your voice is at the table, not buried in hierarchy.
  • Growth Path: This role grows into VP of Investor Relations or Chief Capital Officer as Apta scales.
  • Apta & it’s Partners 20-year track record. Zero losses. Zero capital calls. 85+ physician investors. You are selling something that works to people who need it.

Success Metrics (First 90 Days)
  • Pipeline Development: Build a qualified investor pipeline worth $5 M+ in potential capital
  • Capital Commitments: Secure $5M+ in new investor commitments within the first quarter
  • Database Growth: Add 200+ qualified surgeon contacts to the investor database
  • Conversion Rate: Achieve a 15%+ meeting-to-commitment conversion rate

Compensation
  • Base Salary: $120,000 to $140,000 depending on experience and capital raising track record
  • Performance Bonus: $25,000 to $30,000+ base bonus tied to the role outcomes, plus a growth path tied to company outcomes. Total compensation potential of $175,000 to $200,000+ for top performers.
  • Unlimited PTO: We trust you to manage your time and deliver results. Take what you need.
  • Long-Term Growth: Path to VP of Investor Relations with compensation growth tied directly to company scale as we grow from 85 investors to 1,000.

Required Qualifications
  • Proven Capital Raiser: You personally owned conversions from first conversation through funded commitment with HNW accredited investors. Specific campaigns, check sizes, and close rates. We will ask in detail.
  • Surgeon/Physician Fluency: Direct experience engaging surgeons in high-stakes contexts: capital raising, med device sales, ASC consulting, or physician-focused financial services. You understand significance-driven, time-starved, peer-influenced decision-makers.
  • Consultative Closer: You close through listening, education, and conviction, not pressure. If your instinct is to push harder when a prospect hesitates, this is not the right role.
  • Real Estate Knowledge: Syndication structures, K-1 income, passive loss strategies, accreditation requirements, and PE real estate mechanics. You answer diligence questions on the spot.
  • CRM Discipline: Managed deal pipelines in HubSpot (preferred). Pipeline accuracy as competitive advantage, not overhead.
  • Leadership: Managed or mentored team members. Clear direction, accountability, and feedback loops.
  • Location: Indiana, Ohio, or Kentucky preferred. Exceptional remote candidates considered with willingness to travel for Midwest events.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience raising capital through 506(b) or 506(c) offerings
  • Background in real estate private equity, syndications, or fund management
  • Experience selling to or raising capital specifically from ASC owners, surgical directors, or practice leaders
  • Familiarity with investor portals (Agora or similar) and the post-commitment investor journey
  • Remote or offshore team coordination experience
  • Comfort with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude) to accelerate research, communication, and pipeline analysis

Who Thrives Here
  • Relationship closers who build conviction through trust, not tactics.
  • Surgeon-fluent communicators who hold a room of accomplished physicians as a peer, not a vendor
  • Pipeline operators who treat CRM discipline as a competitive advantage.
  • Strategic leaders who see the architecture of a capital raise, not just the next call.
  • Patient persistors who know a six-month nurture resulting in a funded investor is a win.
  • Ownership thinkers who treat the company's capital goals like their own.
