Description


The Community Development Trust (CDT) is a national investor in affordable housing. Working with local, regional, and national partners, CDT makes long-term equity investments and originates and acquires long-term mortgages. In its seventeen years, CDT has invested approximately $1.4 billion in debt and equity capital to properties in 44 states and regions -- helping to preserve and create over 40,000 units of affordable housing.  The Asset Manager will be responsible for assisting with the management of CDT’s growing debt and equity investment portfolios.  This position reports to the Chief Portfolio Officer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Monthly review and analysis of property operating statements, including analysis of balance sheet and income statement, comparison to budget and business plan, update annual projections each month, explain variances
  • Active communication with partners and property managers regarding operating activity and compliance with partnership agreements and management agreements, respectively
  • Quarterly review of debt investment performance, evaluation of risk associated with loans, communication with borrowers regarding any irregularities noted in operating statements (balance sheet and income statement)
  • Prepare real estate valuations for debt and equity investments, as needed
  • Quarterly preparation of material for Board of Directors meetings, including evaluation of watch list  
  • Work with partners on refinancing efforts, involving analytic analysis, provision of information to potential lenders and review of associated legal documentation
  • Formulate and implement workout plans in connection with investments, as needed
  • Review borrower requests for early prepayment of loans, general partner changes, etc., make recommendation to senior management and senior investor, work with counsel to properly document
  • Perform annual review of audited financial statements and tax returns for equity investments, compare results to projections and report variances
  • Work closely with accounting, debt and equity originators and underwriting departments to communicate investment information
  • Work on various special projects involving the debt and equity portfolio investments

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Requires a bachelor’s degree plus 1 – 3 years experience in accounting, asset management, or property management. 

Salary commensurate with experience plus bonus potential.
