Miami based real estate investment and construction firm seeks an experienced Real Estate CFO to join the executive team.  This is a rare opportunity to join the founding principals of the firm as they embark on the next level of growth for the companies.  This is a true leadership role for an experienced individual with a broad array of skills in the real estate and construction industry looking to join an entrepreneurial team and work collaboratively to grow the organization.

The Company

A national real estate development, investment and construction firm which specializes in the acquisition, development, construction and management of commercial real estate throughout the United States.  The firm’s owned portfolio includes over 70 properties across the United States and is continuing to grow.  The construction company is a fast growing national platform that serves as the general contractor for the firm’s owned assets as well as third-party construction engagements throughout the United States with over $50M in annual Contract Revenue.  The firm is privately held, founded in 2002, with the Principals actively engaged and the primary drivers of the firm’s growth.

The Opportunity

The Company is seeking to add an experienced Chief Financial Officer to oversee all accounting, finance, asset management and administrative areas of the companies and to work with the Principals to continue to grow the owned portfolio and the third-party construction business.  This is a broad leadership role in an entrepreneurial environment that will interact with and impact all functional areas and be a key component in the next stage of growth for the companies.  Specific duties and areas of responsibility include the following:

Accounting and Reporting:  Be the catalyst and leader to review, improve and automate all accounting processes and financial reporting.  Execute your vision of how the accounting systems should work.  Determine staffing needs, build your accounting and finance team to be an integral part of creating value for the companies.

Asset Management and Operations:  Lead the development and implementation of strategic asset management plans for the portfolio and all operating companies. Develop the metrics, process, procedures and reporting to actively monitor performance.  Bring your real estate knowledge and experience to work with the Principals and the operations team to achieve value creation for the real estate portfolio and the operating companies.

Construction Company:  Be an integral part of the construction company working with the Principals to build an infrastructure to better facilitate the continued success of this fast growing national construction platform.  Bring your expertise in job cost accounting and construction company best practices, process and procedure to enable the intelligent growth of the construction company.

Administration:  Be a presence, a leader and a resource in the office to facilitate smooth running of operations and evaluation of technical and administrative needs of the companies.  Oversee all administrative functions including HR, IT and office management.

Qualifications

We are looking for a real estate and construction accounting and finance professional with the experience, drive, technical, communication and interpersonal skills to work directly with the Principals and the team to build the infrastructure of the company to enable the next chapter of growth for the companies.  Interested candidates should have the following qualifications and experience:

• 10+ years of real estate industry experience in accounting and finance roles.
• Previous experience as a CFO at a privately held real estate and/or construction firm.
• Job cost accounting experience / exposure.
• Accounting degree required.
• CPA or MBA required.
• Experience with Timberline and comparable real estate accounting software.
• Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
