Senior Property Accounting Manager

GIP is based in Deer Park, Illinois with key strategic regional offices in Atlanta, Georgia, and Sacramento, California. Summary
The Senior Property Accounting Manager will work under the supervision of the Senior Vice President of Asset Management and work closely with the Asset Management team to manage and oversee all daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual property accounting needs. This includes investor reporting, property accounting, review of data entry analytics, initial set up and maintenance of vendor accounts, annual property tax reporting, and responding to inquiries and requests for reclassifications. The Manager will also review and analyze financial statements, budgets, perform general bookkeeping, complex accounting activities, and financial analysis.
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of accounting staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles/internal controls and how to apply them.
- Understanding of business entity types (Partnerships, Corporations, Joint Ventures, etc.)
- Working knowledge of GAAP, SFAS Rules, and Financial Statement Reporting.
- Ability to work autonomously and independently while meeting deadlines through proper time management.
- Accurate use of grammar, spelling, and punctuation in all communications.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to collaborate on assignments as needed.
- Adherence to the attendance policy is required. Attendance, availability, and punctuality are essential functions of this position.

Education/Experience
Prior experience in supervising lower lever accounting functions.
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, 5-7 years public or corporate accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CPA preferred.
