Mack Real Estate Credit Strategies, L.P. (“MRECS”), founded in 2014, is a privately-held registered investment advisor focused primarily on investing in commercial real estate debt, commercial real estate debt securities and highly structured commercial real estate investments (such as preferred equity and mezzanine loans).
Summary
Seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual with a strong foundational understanding of commercial real estate, preferably with real estate credit experience. This individual will be solely responsible for managing an extensive book of complicated, transitional loans, along with being a leader within the Asset Management team.
Essential Functions
Specific requirements include:
Investment Level Activity
• Proactively manage a growing portfolio of debt investments with a fiduciary mindset. The portfolio will include complex assets within multiple real estate debt investment vehicles, including first mortgage loans, mezzanine loans, and preferred equity
• Manage borrower relationships, including oversight of execution of asset level business plans, and monitoring variances from underwriting
• Develop cash flow models including sensitivity models as needed
• If required, responsible for structuring, underwriting and seeking approval for loan modifications
• Responsible for proactively monitoring local submarket activity, including supply/demand dynamics and capital markets activity
• Assist in capital market activities with leverage providers
• Travel for site-visits twice a year
Communication
• Work closely with third party servicing team, particularly regarding future funding commitments, milestone monitoring, covenant compliance and reserve requirements
• Provide detailed investment performance information to internal and external parties
Portfolio Level / Teamwork
• Serve as a mentor and coach to analysts and associates, and help further develop asset management best practices
• Build and enhance asset management tools to identify risks to the portfolio and lead efforts to mitigate risks
Qualifications
• 8-10 years of related experience
• Must have initiative and be highly organized, detail-oriented and responsive in a fast-paced investment environment
• Technical/Operational skills - Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills, strong analytical skills
• Organizational skills - Ability to meet tight deadlines, manage and prioritize multiple tasks, work within a team
• Communication skills - Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing, and effectively and efficiently present ideas and recommendations
Required Education
At a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree is required
