Job Description Summary
West Bay Capital is a mortgage fund in El Segundo seeking to hire someone for the full time underwriter/loan closer position. The Commercial Loan Analyst is responsible for the preliminary underwriting of new loan inquiries and for collecting and organizing the necessary documentation for all loan closings.
Job Details
Support the originations team by underwriting loan inquiries as needed. This may include:
- Underwrite and summarize new loan requests using Excel.
- Contact local brokers to get market comps and information.
- Compile comps from online sources such as CoStar, Loopnet and Crexi.
- Collect preliminary underwriting information from the borrower or broker.
- Draft loan summaries for the weekly investment committee meeting.
- Draft term sheets.
- Organize and lead all efforts related to closing loans. This may include:
- Manage the timing of each scheduled closing date.
- Organize and lead weekly calls with the borrower, broker, legal counsel and any other relevant parties.
- Order preliminary title reports and open escrow.
- Order and review all third party reports including appraisal, Phase I and Phase II environmental assessments, insurance review, property condition report, zoning report, background and credit checks, broker opinion of value and budget and land use/entitlement reviews.
- Organize the online due diligence checklist and follow up on a regular basis to make sure all documentation is received in a timely manner.
- Verify that loan documents are fully executed and organize them in the appropriate loan files.
- Once a loan is closed, set maturity date, extension, insurance expiration and other reminders in the CRM.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the commercial real estate industry with preference given to candidates with commercial loan closing experience.
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree.
- Must be highly detail oriented.
- Preference given to candidates with a California Real Estate Salesperson license.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe PDF applications.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to work efficiently on multiple loan inquiries and closings while adhering to strict timelines.
- Professional and consistent communication with the West Bay team, borrower, broker, legal counsel, escrow, title, third party vendors and all other parties involved in the loan closing process.
The Commercial Loan Analyst is a full-time, salaried position. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
