Title: Development Assistant Project Manager

The Opportunity:

National Development is looking for an Assistant Project Manager (“APM”) within the Development Group to assist Senior Project Managers and/or a Principal overseeing development (i.e., Project Leads) on all aspects of the real estate development process.  The APM will support and manage day-to-day activities of a project throughout the entirety of the real estate cycle, including but not limited to, acquisitions and initial project due diligence, permitting/regulatory process, design coordination, financing, construction oversight, and community outreach. The APM may be responsible for multiple projects at once and may simultaneously report to multiple Project Leads. 

The APM will be an integral part of the development team and will be directly responsible for supporting their assigned project(s).  We are specifically seeking detail-oriented candidates who are passionate about the industry and real estate development, with intellectual curiosity and a strong desire to learn.  We are looking for highly motivated, organized and ambitious individuals who excel in team-oriented environments. As Development Assistant Project Manager, your primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage day-to-day activities associated with each project with enthusiasm and commitment
  • Assist in the oversight of the design process, from procurement of project team through completion of construction
  • Prepare and oversee project communication and presentations for internal and external teams, community members, permitting efforts, and financial partners
  • Support and interface with various internal and external project teams, as necessary, including leasing, marketing, legal, brokerage, etc.
  • Assist with creating and managing detailed project schedules, budgets and pro formas to ensure critical project objectives are met
  • Engage in pre-construction work, interfacing with general contractors and vendors to ensure budgets are met and achieved
  • Conduct research, such as zoning by-laws, permit applications, site diligence, etc.
  • Prepare and maintain project meeting minutes, ensuring all necessary follow-up is completed in a timely and organized fashion
  • Manage monthly requisition and billing process in collaboration with National Development accounting and/or 3rd party lenders and financial partners
  • Work closely with various external stakeholders, including but not limited to, project abutters, community groups, City/Town Officials, and government agencies.
  • Ability to take lead on “projects within the project” such as oversight of procurement of project related materials, smaller TI Projects, etc.

What You Bring to Us:

  • B.S./B.A. Degree, ideally with direct commercial real estate project management experience in a similar APM position.  High degree of professionalism with the ability to work with little supervision, handle multiple tasks in an organized manager, produce quality work and meet strict deadlines.
  • Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to create strong relationships with project team and constituents.
  • Demonstrate good judgement, develop practical solutions to problems, and understand the sense of urgency required to meet timely completion of major and minor project milestones.
  • Candidates with an understanding of commercial construction systems, methods and materials, are preferred, but not required. 
  • Must work well in fast moving, high expectation environment. 
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Require proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Office and PowerPoint.  Preferred to have skills in CAD, BlueBeam, MS Project, and In-Design.
