Palmetto Bluff is nestled along the May River in the Lowcountry of South Carolina between Hilton Head Island and Savannah. As an award winning 20,000 acre development, the development encompasses a private member’s only club which includes a marina, restaurants, an equestrian center, a shooting club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, a lawn and racquet club, and more.  In addition, Palmetto Bluff has an extensive nature preserve, walking trails, retail shopping, and a vibrant village, all which pay homage to the region’s rich heritage.

 

Job Summary:

 

This position will be a key member of the Palmetto Bluff financial team performing critical financial analysis and support associated with the company’s businesses including development, real estate, club, hotel and operations. Additionally, the position will perform significant asset management duties related to the operations of the hotel, club/operations, and development projects to drive operational performance that meets or exceeds the company’s expectations. The position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and work closely with the Palmetto Bluff ownership. The position will be based in Bluffton, South Carolina.

Essential Responsibilities:

 

  • Take a pro-active stance on the company’s businesses and their financial and operational performance; propose recommendations for appropriate steps to meet or exceed the business plan
  • Produce weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting including cash projections, cash position, updates to the multi-year financial model, operating budgeting and forecasting, analysis of actual vs. budget results, risks, and opportunities
  • Prepare ad hoc memorandums on an as needed basis 
  • Financial analysis, financial/scenario modeling, create and substantiate business cases
  • Development project tracking for budget, actual, and forecast; create detailed project budget reports for project approvals of development phases and amenities 
  • Tracking and forecasting of lot and home sales, lot inventory management; lot and home pricing analysis and proposals
  • Provide various ad-hoc financial reports and analysis to leaders and others as requested
  • Pro-active leadership with the budget development, partner with controllers to monitor performance to plan
  • Develop and implement analytical tools to improve financial transparency and process efficiency
  • Other projects and duties as assigned 

 

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting 
  • Strong understanding of accounting, including accrual to cash adjustments
  • 3-5 years progressive experience in real estate development, club environment, hospitality
  • 3-5 years in financial analysis roles 
  • Strategic thinker and pro-active approach
  • Strong quantitative and analytical/problem solving skills 
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – ability to condense complex information into concise, clear executive level summaries
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong organization skills: must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple ongoing projects
  • Ability to work long hours on an as needed basis
  • Team Player  

 

Desired:
 

  • Investment banking/management consulting/private equity background
  • MBA 
  • Active CPA license
  • More than 5+ years’ experience

  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard, phone, and other office equipment
  • Seeing to read a variety of materials
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Ability to carry 5-10 lbs. (computer, files, etc.)
  • Normal office environment with exposure to personal computer monitor and frequent use of a keyboard
  • Valid driver’s license or reliable means of transportation to/from work and to support traveling as job may require
  • Ability to work hours necessary to meet deadlines
