JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for supporting accounting, analysis and reporting activities associated with global benefit programs (an annual spend over $1Bn approx.) for a population of over 115,000 employees (35% US) based in over 70 countries. Serve as the finance partner for the People (HR) Global Benefits and US Payroll organization and support the financial planning and segment-regional-local controllership teams. The ideal candidate must have a good understanding of benefit plan operations, have a collaborative approach, be solution-oriented and be able to communicate effectively across finance and non-finance functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the accounting and operations for US benefit programs, taxes and other payroll related transactions.
Oversees compensation/benefits (as applicable) areas for the monthly close which includes coordinating with Segment Accounting Teams, Business Finance, People Teams, and the Shared Services Organization.
Accountable for complying and continually improving robust accounting and reporting processes.
Contributes to key accounting projects and deliverables to ensure reporting accuracy and that departmental deadlines are met.
Arranges for and acts as primary/secondary contact with the organization's internal and external
auditors on accounting matters.
Responsible for key internal financial reports; including the partnering with Business Finance (Financial Planning) to explain variances.
Maintains compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Prior experience in payroll accounting, Insurance -captives accounting preferred
Experience in benefit plan financials/audits and Form 11K / Form 5500 filings preferred
Interprets current accounting policies and practices; including the implementation of new operating procedures to improve efficiency.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration. Requires a minimum of four years related experience. Must also have public accounting or relevant experience. CPA a plus.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
CPA or MBA (graduate degree) preferred, but not required (depending on experience).
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous information to top management. Highly developed written, oral, and presentation skills. Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and interact effectively with top management, employees, representatives of federal and state governments, and external auditors. Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data and prepare clear, concise financial reports. Must have ability to convey complex financial issues to nonfinancial users.
FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE
Broad, in-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Financial
Accounting Standards (FASB), theories, & practices. Demonstrated experience & knowledge of financial issues & economic impact beyond technical knowledge. Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to analyze the most complex business/financial data and develop innovative solutions. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports. Advanced understanding of accounting and bookkeeping concepts. Develops and administers accounting practices to ensure optimum client satisfaction while guaranteeing CBRE financial interests are protected.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex financial information and transactions and accounting principles. Ability to independently research complex accounting transactions/issues. Ability to problem-solve, both independently and working as a team. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.
OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
Strong computer skills, including specific knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
Broad experience with large financial systems such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, Hyperion, etc. is desired. Knowledge of real estate service industry and terminology is helpful.
External and internal audit/SOX compliance.
Overall understanding and experience in application of GAAP and SEC financial reporting requirements including financial statements and financial statement footnotes.
Self-motivated, strong work ethic and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, including the ability to research and simplify complex situations.
Ability to interface with all levels of the organization to collect information and drive resolution.
Must be detail-oriented, have a proactive approach and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Must be able to effectively manage and prioritize critical deadlines.
Ability to work in a team environment.
