Our client is an alternative investment advisory firm located in Stamford, CT. Since its founding in 2015, the firm has invested and committed over $3 billion of capital. The firm originates and executes investments across four distinct but complementary strategies: Real Estate Credit, Real Estate Equity, Corporate and Specialty Finance.

In the real estate credit space, the firm provides opportunistic credit investments secured by commercial real estate overlooked by conventional lenders requiring speed, creativity and flexible capital.

Position:
The position of Vice President, Credit will allow a talented individual the opportunity for fast-paced transaction experience executing highly structured and customized real estate credit transactions at a growing investment firm. Direct access to experienced senior management provides the ability to gain unparalleled experience and the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to both investment performance and firm culture, while also taking on significant responsibilities in the execution and management of new investments.

The candidate will serve as a player/coach based upon workload and prioritization of deliverables. They will be responsible for managing relationships with key stakeholders including loan servicers and joint venture partners.

Responsibilities:
This person will work closely with the senior management team on all aspects of the firm’s Real Estate Credit platform. The position’s responsibilities will include:
• Identifying, evaluating and executing prospective investment opportunities, conducting market research, leverage internal databases and external connections to assess key statistics for new and existing markets within a designated region and/or nationally.
• Managing due diligence and legal review processes.
• Responsible for deal underwriting, benchmarking and overall pipeline/portfolio analytics.
• Interfacing with existing and prospective external counterparties guiding and mentoring junior team members.
• Research and support development of strategic partnerships.
• Assist in the asset management of the existing portfolio and interacting with the firm’s asset management, servicing and legal teams, which will include monitoring portfolio and collateral performance.
• Collaborate with leadership and associate underwriters to facilitate market analytics, demographic studies, new market selection, and reporting.
• Assist with creative partnership structures for expanding the partnership portfolio.
• Conduct face-to-face meetings and calls with external commercial real estate partners in conjunction with business development.
• Communicate with investors during and after loan closings, including completion of written loan closing summaries and documentation of investor co-investments.
• Coordinate the creation of the preliminary and final underwriting in addition to key market assumptions for deals.

Characteristics & Qualifications:
Seeking candidates with 10+ years of experience in Commercial Real Estate, Management Consulting, Investment Banking, Debt Fund or Real Estate Finance. Prior experience in the real estate industry (debt/lending experience particularly).
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Experience underwriting various property types including industrial, retail, self-storage, medical office and senior living with an emphasis on multifamily or agency underwriting.
• Exposure to mezzanine and high-yield lending.
• Financial modeling and underwriting proficiency, including structured debt and preferred equity analyses.
• Impeccable writing skills, attention to detail, organization, and the ability to multi-task.
• Able to handle significant responsibility.
• Entrepreneurial, driven, and a self-starter with high integrity.
• Exceptional time management and prioritization capabilities.
• Ability to quickly synthesize large quantities of information.
• Ability to articulate views, opinions, recommendations and thoughts in a clear and concise manner.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Argus.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and networking skills.
