We are seeking a Development Manager/Director, Execution who will be involved in all aspects of the development of new multi-family rental projects. The Development Director, while reporting to the VP of Development, is expected to operate with a high level of independence throughout a project’s execution and is responsible and accountable for bottom line results and final execution for each assigned project.
Location: Washington DC.
What you'll be doing:
- Responsible for, under the guidance of the VP of Development, managing phases of multiple development projects which includes, but is not limited to:
- Coordinate with multiple internal and external groups to ensure the design and delivery of successful projects.
- Coordinate with multiple internal and external groups to ensure the design and delivery of successful projects
- Create and maintain development schedule for deliverables required by construction and design team.
- Internal team coordination - Operations, Marketing, Construction, Asset Management, IT, Accounting
- Manage project proformas - budgets, schedule, timing, market assumptions, underwriting assumptions
- Update monthly development reports for distribution
- Run and oversee minutes for Owner/Architect/Contractor (OAC) meetings, prior to construction start
- Participate in external consultant identification and selection.
- Participate in weekly OAC meetings, after construction start.
- Coordinate branding and marketing efforts
- Coordinate branding and marketing efforts

- Project cost management - Soft Cost
- Attends work as scheduled to support the ongoing success of the company
- Other duties, responsibilities and special projects as assigned
Skills we're seeking:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Graduate degree in Business, Finance or Real Estate highly preferred.
- 5-7 years’ experience in Multi-Family Development
- Knowledge of Type V to Type I construction projects
- Strong analytical skills and able to multi-task in a constantly changing environment
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Well-rounded functional background including finance, acquisitions, development, marketing, construction and management
- Proven negotiating and influencing skills
- Experience in and in-depth knowledge of targeted local markets for position
- Strong knowledge of computers, Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as the internet.
- Strong leadership and the ability to develop relationships with clients and colleagues
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work well under time and other constraints
- Strong analytical skills and a drive for measurable results
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Dependable judgment and impeccable integrity
