It’s Your Time

In the spirit of Independence Day week, free up some time. Adam Goldstein, President and COO of Royal Caribbean, for 12 years kept important work and personal events in an Excel file to get a quick view of whether he’s too busy, or has time for what he believes is really important. He has a sheet for each month and he told the “Wall Street Journal” the key to success is it includes both work and personal events and no one else has access and can add to the sheets. 95% of his Outlook calendar does not make the sheet, but he makes time for everything on it. Richard Branson summed up, “Fun is one of the most important – and underrated – ingredients in any successful venture.” At the end of the year Adam reviews and reflects on what was really important and successful. If all your best times are personal, get another job, and vice versa.
