In 2018, the business received strategic investments from a major Wall Street sponsor to help accelerate its platform development and increase capital deployment thus enabling the business to continue to grow the platform - with a focus on achieving additional scale in its current market segments and introducing new products and financing solutions to a broader and national customer base. The company’s strategy is to dramatically grow core business nationally and enter adjacent products/markets to achieve $3+ billion in total originations by 2020.
The Underwriter/Loan Specialist is responsible for working with the loan originations team and sales management to help turn leads into actionable opportunities, beginning with initial deal and borrower analysis through to loan funding, while also ensuring an excellent customer experience throughout the sales process.
•Works directly with all the Loan Officers and the Sales Production team on loan/deal analysis,structuring, packaging and pricing, as well as data/document collection for all client loans
•Interface directly with borrowers and their respective teams to quickly and efficiently push loans thru the sales pipeline for processing and onto the internal underwriters
•Be liaison between loan originations and several other departments including Evaluations,Credit, Processing, Construction and Borrower Underwriting
•Perform functions to move loans quickly through the pipeline, including:
•Ordering internal values from Evaluations Team
•Following up with borrower documentation
•Analysing key documents from Borrowers including Budgets, Plans, Permits, Deal memos, etc.
•Working with construction team to vet project feasibility and borrower capability
•Collecting and scrubbing borrower documents relating to experience, liquidity, net worth, entity documents and other factors that would lead to a credit decision
•Develop and deepen the company’s relationship with existing and new borrowers by enhancing/creating a positive customer experience overall
•Assess and recommend ways to enhance and improve the loan technology platform, with respect to Sales Team use and needs
•Regularly update statuses, funding dates, etc. as part of pipeline management
•Maintain extensive digital filing system according to internal guidelines and naming conventions
•Perform other functions and assist with other projects as assigned

•Strong analytical and organizational skills combined with effective interpersonal and customer service skills – experience working in a client service or loan originations team environment would be useful
•Effective organizational skills and attention to details combined with computer competency in the use of MS Office – especially the use of Excel, Word and Powerpoint
•General knowledge of real estate or financial services sector is preferable.
•Real estate license is desired but not required; must have high school diploma; bachelor’s degree preferred.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Strong and effective organizational skills, hands-on skill in using Excel, Word and PowerPoint - as a business user
•Effective verbal and written communication skills combined with strong business acumen – numerate/ comfortable working with numbers.
